In the centre of Var, France architect Rudy Ricciotti designed a private gallery for art lover Enrico Navarra. The villa's roof, designed by engineering firm LR Ingénierie, is comprised of seventeen 9.25 m x 2.35 m panels, each weighing approximately 3 tonnes, with a 7.80 m overhang; a feat that was easily achieved thanks to the roofing material: Ductal® with metallic fibres.
Characteristics of the project
Roof with a 7.8 m overhang
Ductal® is used 100% structurally for flexion in the ribbing
It facilitated, with its high flexion resistance, the construction of a roof with a 7.8 m overhang with very thin panel thickness in the unribbed sections. The overhang frees the building façade from any structural element, facilitating the installation of a windowed façade without upper support. Ductal® also makes the building watertight.
