Weleda laboratory

Architect Maryam Ashford-Brown designed a new building for the Weleda pharmaceutical laboratory in Huningue, Alsace, France.

Description

The lobby has a roof made of Ductal® Fire + technology with openings and low thermal conductivity glazing that helps to decrease heat loss. The strength of Ductal® Archistructure solution facilitated the design of 12.75 m long ribbed, perforated slabs that are less than 6 cm thick and painted white.

Challenge

Ductal® Fire + facilitated the fabrication of perforated roof slabs with a very high slenderness ratio with the reinforcing steel in the ribbing, the slabs are 6 cm thick (except ribbing). Ductal® technology ensures that the roof meets fire-resistance regulations.
