Project description Ehpad
The agency of Philippon-Kalt Architectes-Urbanistes was entrusted with the renovation and expansion of a unique care facility (EHPAD), exclusively dedicated to people suffering from Alzheimer's.

Description

The building's façade was entirely restructured and surrounded with a self-supporting lattice-style system in white Ductal® Envelope, consisting of a series of tall, thin "blades" or columns (6m-long, 20 to 65 cm-wide and 7 to 12 cm-thick). Looking like bamboo stems swaying in the wind, the lattice system surrounds a 1,000 m² surface area for the 22m-high building. The façade allows plenty of the light to filter through to the rooms inside, ensuring that the patients receive a daily dose of sunshine.

Optimization

The layout of the blades is different from one to another, in order to maximize the beautiful external view, allow the daylight to permeate the interior and to regulate the temperature of the building.

RATP Bus Center

The semi-flowable nature of Ductal® Envelope facilitated the pouring of 3D panels with a fine yet nubby Lego®-style texture. Only 3 cm thick, their lightness are made for fast installation and adjusting.

Pierre Budin Daycare

The watertightness Ductal® Envelope made possible the design of an impermeable wavy façade with effective exterior insulation using a panel sandwich system. The mineral texture of Ductal® fits perfectly with the plant-like appearance that the architect desired.

SHUM YIP UpperHills LOFT

The Shum Yip UpperHills Loft, a Urbanus project, is a high-end commercial complex with 6 high-rise towers containing offices, hotels and business apartments. Adjacent to the CBD and Huaqiangbei shopping district, it is also located between two center parks in Shenzhen.

Rabat Salé Airport

The National Airports Office of Morocco assigned architect Zhor Jaidi Bensouda from Klarte International studio the refurbishment of Rabat-Salé airport, including the design of a 1 600sqm mashrabiya facade. It is both an envelope and a brise soleil, based on a traditional and cultural pattern : the Morrocan star.
