Parking Saas Fee

informations
Introduction

Deformation of the concrete rolling surface, structural deficit in terms of puncture resistance, sloping terrain (5% gradient) ... the equation to be solved for the repair of the covered car park at the Saas-Fee ski resort was arduous. Ductal® took up the challenge and developed an innovative product meeting all these constraints.

Description

To meet the high demands of a complex car park renovation project in the ski resort of Saas-Fee, Ductal® and its R&D team at LafargeHolcim Innovation Center (LHIC) developed a tailor-made formula convincing with its ease of implementation and an excellent surface finish.

Challenge

Description

The parking lot had to be reinforced at the level of the punching. The first solution considered or this was to reinforce the entire surface with UHPC. The Overlay application, which consists of covering the deck with a thin layer of Ductal on 8 cm to strengthen and waterproof it, is in fact commonly used in Switzerland, in particular for repairing bridges. Although the thixotropic formulas used for this application are viscous, hence difficult to install without suitable equipment and usually do not require surface finishing.

Applications

Description

The solution of a traditional intervention with Ductal® was difficult to guarantee without visible fibers due to the slope. That’s why we developed a new product, easier to implement. After pilot tests with its client, the new formula has successfully passed all the go to market steps. And this is how 70m3 of this new formula Ductal® could be produced and implemented in Saas-Fee as part of this project. The 5 cm high UHPC slabs around the posts look great and give new life to the car park.
